2009's Hottest Swimwear By Brittany West - Wednesday, October 28, 2009
The temperature is rising and we're finally gearing up for the beach. Summer is almost here! You know what that means. Short shorts,
short skirts, sandals, tank tops, tanning and most importantly...bathing suits. I hope your
beach body ready because in 2009, it's all about being bold and flashy. Whether you're sporting bright colors or the cut away bikini, it is all about drawing attention to yourself with a unique swimsuit. Let's take a look at some of the trends sure to turn heads?
Big, Bold Colors!
This year is all about color!! And it’s no different on the beach. If anything, your bathing suit can be any wild color or pattern you want it to be. Hot pinks, neons, and light blues are very popular. If you want to do the bohemian look, you can go for jewel tones (green, purple, red, royal blue). Whichever suits your look best, this is not the season to be afraid of color or pattern. Flaunt bold hues or have fun with animal and African prints.
Monokinis
Ever since Paris Hilton's Carl's Jr. commercial, we’ve lusted after the monokini. Who would have thought a one piece could be so sexy? The only thing about this style is that if your bust is bigger than your bottom or vice versa, it may not fit as well or be as flattering. Definitely try it on before purchasing.
One Shoulder Bikinis
This year on the red carpet, we noticed a lot of one-shouldered necklines on many
couture gowns. This is being carried into the summertime and we're showing the one shoulder neckline in our bathing suits as well. Whether you're wearing a 2 piece bikini or a one piece suit, having a one shoulder neckline will be sure to add interest to your summer swimwear.
Cut Away Bikinis
A great way to add a little sex appeal to your bathing suit is to utilize the cut away trend. It's super sexy and it can be as subtle or as shredded as you're comfortable with. I love this trend in a simple black and white suit. If you're going subtle with the cut away, you can definitely look into a bold colored beach tote to sport along with this trend. So hot!
With so many amazing new styles to choose from there is sure to be a suit for every body shape and size.
Top 10 Spring 2009 Fashion Trends By Brittany West - Wednesday, October 21, 2009
Ahhh... Finally after months of rain and wind, Spring has finally arrived!! So one of the most important questions on all our minds is, "What do we wear?"
Here are 10 of Springs Hottest trends...
Asymmetrical Dresses & Blouses
With so many different versions of this there is sure to be a style to suit every shape. Usually in the form of a flowy
dress but often as a top or a fitted dress.
White Dresses
Definitely not replacing the ‘Little Black Dress’, the White Dress is a huge trend for this Spring. Instead of the simplicity and versatility of the LBD, though, the White
Dress is a more glamorous pick in ruffles, maxi-lengths and sheer fabrics. Think Goddess!
High-Waisted Skirts, Pants & Shorts
High-waisted bottoms are the perfect way to achieve that flatter "cinched waist" effect that has been a big trend in general. Simple lines help achieve this look and create an ultra feminine silhouette.
Pantsuits & Shortsuits
Hot in the late 80’s,
shortsuits are making there comeback and are much more stylish this time! Keep it simple and a tad drapey to avoid looking like a flashback from a fashion trend better left in the past.
See-Through, Sheer Fabrics
Bringing the "naked dress" to a whole new level, Sheer material is seen in everything from work blouses to evening gowns, it is a huge trend for Spring. On the runway pieces left little to the imagination with no layering, for the real world a simple slip or light tank make these stunning pieces more appropriate.
Harem Pants
There has been controversy on whether harem pants are flattering or a trend disaster. Surprisingly prevalent on the runways at Mercedes-Benz
Fashion Week the bollywood inspired pieces were paired with Chunky heels, and drapy tops making them a little more conceivable.
Cleopatra-Inspired
Many designers used jeweled-necklines and other accents that date back to the the days of Cleopatra.
Boho or Hippie Chic
Bohemian Style was a big hit with a few designers. And, many designers had this look going in at least one of their styles. Think peasant blouses, flowery prints, loose-fitting, etc. The best way to pull this off this Spring is to pair a bohemian styled piece with something a bit more conservative like a biege skirt, jeans or vest.
Color
Color is a huge consideration for pieces this Spring. So much so that it should be listed as a trend in and of itself. Bright colors were seen at
Fashion Week including lemon yellows, neon oranges, chartreuse, fuschia and bright blues. Black and white are a staple and were present as well as neutrals such as tans and greys. Muted brights such as mint-green and coral are also big.
Ruffles & Bows
My personal favorite, ruffles and bows dressed up simple silhouettes in the Spring 2009 Collections. Look for bows at the shoulders and hips and ruffles at hemlines.
With the weather heating up why not stop in and refresh your spring wardrobe at up to 75% off Designer collections!!
Spring into style with the seasons hottest colors... By Brittany West - Wednesday, October 14, 2009
Spring into style with the season’s hottest colors…
Sunset Pink:
Pink is the star color of the season. Don't worry if the blush tones from fall and winter don’t suit you, try a bold shade that packs a punch!
Whether in a
dress or beautiful flowing tunic, you won't go unnoticed in this hot hue!
Citrus Orange:
Orange has a bold presence, for that extra pop pair them with white bottoms and tribal gear or for high glamour work gold into your outfit and accent with metallic or tan or leather details. If orange isn't your shade accent a neutral outfit with a colorful
crocodile handbag in one of the seasons juiciest colors.
Sunny Yellow:
The perfect accessory to a deep sun-kissed glow. Team it with rich leather for a casual look or add interest by accessorizing with beading, metallics and tan heals.
Rihanna, Katy Perry and Lohan at Paris fashion week By Brittany West - Wednesday, October 07, 2009
Shortly after showing her first collection for Ungaro in Paris, Lindsay Lohan and co-designer Estrella Archs were overjoyed with Lindsay exclaiming “It’s pretty much like a fairy tale!” I would imagine! Especially after rumors that her career was over and recurring stints in rehab, this is Lindsay’s second chance to reinvent herself and she is grabbing it with both hands, good for her!

Lohan wasn’t the only celeb to make a mark on this years Paris Fashion week, Rihanna and Katy Perry arrived and all eyes were on the duo.
Rihanna wowed in a copy-cat look from the Hussein Chalayan Fall 2009 collection, while Katy opted for an elegant black satin JPG
dress and Christian Louboutin
heels. The two became close after sharing a holiday in Barbados in April, where Katy joined the umbrella star in her home country for a relaxing week of soaking up the sun and speedboat rides. Ah…to have the life of a pop star.
Asian designers WOW at Paris fashion week By Brittany West - Wednesday, October 07, 2009
Ahhh….Paris the undisputable prêt a porter of fashion, the place where cigarettes actually look chic and it is acceptable if not encouraged to have red wine before noon. Paris is welcoming more and more talented Asian designers and judging by the elegant and inspired pieces below, we can see why. It is exciting to see the merging of global style all in one dramatically fashionable event.
Asian designers are eager to grab a bigger share of the international market and there is no better place to do it than Paris
Fashion week where South Korea’s Lie Sang Bong and China’s Frankie Xie of the Beijing-based Jefen label were amongst the first to send out their collections for next spring-summer as fashion week commenced. Here are a few of my favorites to make it down the runway so far…
The World is certainly getting smaller by the day with the addition of Facebook, Twitter and Skype (one of my absolute favorites). And now with
Fashion becoming more and more globally inspired it is such a great opportunity for cultural exchange and it couldn't be more beautiful!
Armani Shortens up for Spring/Summer 2010! By Brittany West - Friday, October 02, 2009

If the bright and upbeat Spring/Summer 2010 collection by
Armani at this years Milan Fashion week is any indication the hemlines seem to
be rising with the temperature this season.

The Armani show held at the Milano Fashion Center had a
bright summer feel with Cheerful houndstooth prints and youthful short styles,
a pleasant change from the normally Urban Label. Featuring plenty of loose-fitting and comfort friendly
pieces, paired with more structured looks. A gorgeous bubble skirt and cropped jacket, or loose blousey
tops and pleated shorts, everything from daywear to eveningwear had one thing
in common….short, short, short!

The eveningwear line showed off cropped flowing shorts, or
sparkly shorts under shorter dresses and deep open V backs ideal for showing
off that beautiful summer glow.

Star followers Janet Jackson, Swiss tennis champ Roger
Federer and and Chinese actress Zhang Ziyi were spotted making an appearance at
the second show. While a
well-dressed Armani adorned entirely in black, waved to the crowd after the
show before making his way backstage, where he told reporters “During my 30
years in fashion, I explored many different roads, from minimalism to ethnic,
but most of the time, people expect the same style from me and don’t understand
change,”
Understandable, with the beautifully dependable cuts and
styles consistent with the Armani label, no wonder we don’t want them to
change!
Look your best this Melbourne Cup Carnival! By Brittany West - Thursday, October 01, 2009
And they’re racing! As we gallop towards one of the biggest events of the year, it becomes increasingly more important to secure that perfect Carnival outfit.
The events kick off this coming Saturday, Oct 3 with the Melbourne cup carnival preview day featuring the turnbull stakes, with the main event to follow on the first Tuesday of November. This event has become a highlight of the year for all Australians and visitors alike since 1861, with race day becoming a public holiday in Victoria in 1877.
Hundreds of thousands of people gather at the track in excited anticipation of the finish. Not to mention the prizes for Australia’s most affluent horse-race, with the owner of the winning horse receiving AUD $5.5 million for last years race, and the 18 carat gold cup itself carrying a wopping value of AUD $125,000.
Not everyone comes for the racing though, many people attend for the carnival atmosphere and women flock for the chance to see and be seen in their one-off carnival outfit. “Fashions on the Field” has become one of, if not thee most important fashion event of the year, definitely accomplishing it’s job of attracting women to the sport of racing. Due to the overwhelming success of the event, it has also become a national
fashion competition between the states of Australia, awarding winners with large cash prizes in many categories including “best dressed man” and “best dressed women.”
Look your best by the track or at your Melbourne Cup luncheon with unique fashions from Italy and rest assured you will be the only one in that beautiful
Armani dress,
Cavalli suit or sleek
Gucci shoes!
