Fashion is in full bloom this season with Burberry’s latest jewelry line.  The “Garden girls,” collection due to hit stores and Burberry.com this American spring of 09, is sure to be a fashion statement that resonates throughout the globe.

The London-based purveyor of style personified is broadening its scope of excellence with the blossoming of the new jewelry line.   Although this is merely the first anniversary of the thematically driven series, the success of the previous fall/winter 2008-2009 collection has established high expectations for the awe inspiring pieces shown at the Burberry Prorsum  Spring 2009 runway show.

Since the inception of the new jewelry line at the Spring 2008 show, Burberry has actively pursued being recognized as a leading costume jeweler as well as a highly valued clothier.  This comes as no surprise to those familiar with the company’s background, as the brand’s well-deserved reputation for being an industry valiant dates back the 19th century.

Thomas Burberry, the inventor of gabardine opened his doors for business in 1856 and has since established a strong celebrity following, being adorned by such celebrities as Charlize Theron, Demi Moore, Jennifer Aniston and Gwyneth Paltrow.

The aspect that makes each hand crafted floral masterpiece so special is the incredible craftsmanship.  From the metallic rose ring and floral garland to the mushroom acrylic floral cluster, each piece is an intricately designed 3-D work of art.  The aspirations of Burberry’s creative director, Christopher Bailey shine brightly.  The incredibly realistic quality of the entire collection is absolutely stunning, definitely worth making your way to the nearest Burberry to stop and “smell the roses.”

The collection presents a culmination of greenhouse inspired necklaces, pendants, bracelets and rings comprised of metallic and acrylic flowers in addition to, geometric alligator tiles.  The entire collection is drool worthy, hand sprayed in a lux pallet of slate blue, dark rose, mushroom, sapphire, plum, purple, taupe, pink and stone.  Fully complimenting the assortment of ready-to-wear clothes of the Spring 2009 collection.  With prices ranging from $195-$1195 it’s enough to make any girl want to start her own floral arrangement.

Diamonds are a girl’s best friend By Brittany West - Sunday, July 19, 2009

Well if diamonds are a girl’s best friend than, the rare blue diamond that recently sold at a Sotheby’s auction for a jaw dropping $8.4 million USD, would certainly reach sister status.

The 7.03-carat gem was discovered last year in South Africa and has been graded highly for it’s vivid color and clarity.  Shaped like a cushion and only slightly smaller than a dime it is one of only a few blue diamonds ever found.

David Bennet, head of jewellery for Sotheby’s Europe and Middle East stated “I was a little bit concerned in this market” When the majority of the dazzling rings, bracelets and necklaces on offer sold for almost 10 percent less than expected.

According to Bennet, the anonymous telephone bidder and proud owner of the most expensive diamond ever purchased, has yet to name the gem.
